Eligible Vehicles

  • Age Limit: Only vehicles manufactured within the past 8 years are allowed for import. Previously, the limit was 5 years, but it has since been relaxed to 8 years.
  • Steering Position: Only right-hand drive vehicles are permitted. Left-hand drive vehicles are banned unless imported by diplomats.
  • Ownership Requirement: The importer must have owned the vehicle for at least 12 months before import.
  • Sales Restriction: The imported vehicle cannot be sold within Namibia for 24 months after import.

  • Copy of Passport
  • Commercial Invoice
  • Vehicle Registration Papers

  • Customs Declaration Form (CA304A)

Taxes and Duties

  • Customs Duty: Ranges from 15% to 30% of the vehicle’s value.
  • Value Added Tax (VAT): 16.5% VAT is applied.
  • Tax Exemption: Returning residents are allowed to import one used car duty-free if it has been owned for over 12 months prior to shipment.

Transport and Customs Procedures

  • Transport Method: As of March 1, 2023, all used vehicles must be transported on a car carrier trailer. Self-driven imports are no longer allowed.

What are the disadvantages of purchasing a vehicle through an auction?

You have only a limited time to inspect the vehicle, request a translation of the auction sheet, and place a bid.
This is a fast-paced process, and while it may feel overwhelming at first, you’ll get used to it quickly through experience.

What happens after purchasing a vehicle?

Once you purchase a vehicle, we handle the entire export process from Japan to India.
Your main responsibility is to place bids based on the vehicle’s mileage, condition, and auction data.

Can I obtain CO₂ and NOx emission data for my vehicle?

Yes. Whenever possible, we retrieve the CO₂ and NOx emission data required to meet Bharat Stage VI (BS6) norms, equivalent to Euro 6.
If a vehicle does not meet these standards, we will inform you before purchase.

Shipping Time – How long does it take for my vehicle to arrive in India?

The estimated shipping time from Japan to Mumbai Port (India's designated import port for used cars) is typically 20 to 30 days, depending on vessel schedules and customs processing.

First Steps in the Process

The first step is to register for membership, which gives you access to thousands of vehicles listed daily in Japanese auctions.
Once registered, you can view auction sheets, check vehicle specs and emissions compliance, and place bids confidently with our team's support.
