CAA Auction

Company Overview

CAA Co., Ltd. is one of Japan's leading companies operating used car auto auctions. Founded in 1987, CAA operates four auction venues, starting with Chubu, followed by Tokyo, Gifu, and Tohoku. In 2005, CAA formed a business alliance with TAA (Toyota Auto Auction). After the alliance, the two companies integrated by standardizing membership and systems, while respecting each other's autonomy and leveraging their strengths to enter the auction market together.

Company History

CAA opened its first auction venue in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, in 1988, and has since led the industry of used car auctions in Japan. The company has continually pursued industry innovation, from opening the Tokyo venue to partnering with TAA and introducing "TC-webΣ," a system allowing real-time auction participation. In 2024, CAA plans to expand the number of lanes in the Chubu venue to 10 and the Tokyo venue to 6, aiming to improve services and enhance the trading environment.

CHUBU VENUE

The Chubu venue boasts a scale of up to 1,150 seats, supporting more than 400,000 cars listed annually. With 8 lanes available for auction. A large proportion of the vehicles—approximately 80%—are newly listed each week, providing buyers with a wide selection of fresh vehicles. The auction venue is also relatively close to the Nagoya port. It is also the largest, and original, of all the venues.

TOKYO VENUE

The Tokyo venue focuses on gathering high-quality vehicles, with a particularly high proportion of light vehicles and first-time listed cars. In October 2024, the venue expanded to 6 lanes, creating an opportunity for more bidding and sales per day. The venue offers the ability to participate in eight other venues, including five TAA venues and three CAA venues.

GIFU VENUE

The Gifu venue emphasizes ease of vehicle inspection, displaying auction vehicles across a vast 73,000 square meters. Special events such as the "Limit 30 Corner" are held at the venue, offering buyers a variety of high-quality vehicles. Additionally, the venue offers simultaneous participation in the eight TAA and CAA venues on Tuesdays. Again, CAA Gifu is close to both the Nagoya and Kansai (Osaka and Kobe) ports.

TOHOKU VENUE

Tohoku Venue (Shiwa District, Iwate Prefecture)
The Tohoku venue is the largest auction venue in the northeastern region. The venue features 300 seats and offers a good environment for vehicle inspection, including exterior and interior images of cars, as well as 360-degree panoramic images. Although the auction is more further away than other CAA auctions to the 3 major ports of Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka there still may be cars to bid on from here. One point of concern may be the risk of rust, Tohoku being in the snow zone in winter.

Reliability of Vehicle Inspections

We are confident to give CAA a good score due to their unique features. As one of the few non-maker auctions, they stand out for producing TYPED auction sheets. Most of their locations are conveniently near one of the three main export ports, helping to reduce inland transport costs, with the exception of their Tohoku site.

Conclusion

CAA auctions are highly attractive. Not only can you acquire high-quality used cars that have passed Japan’s strict vehicle inspections , but the auction also provides English-language listings and auction sheets. We encourage you to join CAA auctions through our company and bid to buy.
