What is JUMVEA?
JUMVEA (Japan Used Motor Vehicle Exporters Association) is a non-profit organisation that delivers order, safety, and fair trade in the used car industry. Its history explains why it was founded.
When the international demand for Japanese used cars surged in the 1990s, fraud and illegal trading incidents also increased. Common scams included stolen cars being sold and shipped, illegal items hidden in tyres, tampered odometers, and buyers paying for cars that didn't exist. These issues created significant concerns for buyers and sellers in Japan, highlighting the need for a regulatory body to oversee the trade.

Initially called the Federation of Used Car Exports, JUMVEA was established in September 1995 to allow cooperatives to exchange information and promote safety and order in the used car industry. The organisation was renamed JUMVEA in 1997 when it was officially recognised by the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry of Japan (METI). At its inception in 1997, JUMVEA had 60 members. As of 2024, it has over 400 members. Provide Cars was the 151st member, and we joined around 1997.
JUMVEA helps keep the used car export business fair and orderly. This group sets trading rules to make sure buyers and sellers are treated fairly. They also help solve problems, check their members' activities, share important information to help trading companies, and assist with secure transactions.

JUMVEA Safe Trade (JUST) system offers 100% protection of your money.
The JUST system offers 100% protection for your payments. While not required for all transactions, this system provides an extra layer of security. JUMVEA receives the payment on behalf of the exporting company and only releases it once the vehicle is shipped. *There will be a handling charge of (¥20,000 or US$200).
