Import Conditions for Used Cars to Hong Kong
| Vehicle Age Limit | There is no absolute age ban, but used vehicles must be within 7 years of manufacture to be eligible for import. Vehicles older than 20 years may be imported as classic cars, which are exempt from emissions standards but subject to special procedures. |
| Emission and Environmental Standards | All vehicles must comply with Euro VIc emission and noise standards. Required documentation includes: - A Certificate of Conformity (COC) - An emission and noise test report from a recognized testing body, dated within the last 6 months These documents must be submitted to the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) for pre-approval before shipping the vehicle. |
| Steering Wheel Position | Only right-hand drive (RHD) vehicles are permitted for registration in Hong Kong. Left-hand drive (LHD) vehicles are not allowed to be registered under normal circumstances. |
| Customs Duty | No customs duty is charged in Hong Kong. However, a First Registration Tax (FRT) is applied based on the vehicle’s taxable value (in HKD): - First $150,000: 40% - Next $150,000: 75% - Next $200,000: 100% - Remainder: 115% |
| Additional Requirements | Import Declaration: Must be submitted to the Customs and Excise Department (C&ED) within 14 days of import. Import Return (Form CED336): Must be filed within 30 days of the vehicle's arrival. Vehicle Inspection: The car must pass inspection at a Transport Department Vehicle Examination Centre. - Emissions and noise compliance approval from the EPD must be presented at the time of inspection. Registration Application: Submit the TD22 form and required documents to the Transport Department’s Licensing Office to complete first registration. |

Ensure that your country's import regulations match the vehicle specifications. Also, check the transportation costs from the auction venue and the final total amount.

Once the conditions are met, please make the required deposit payment and proceed with bidding.
Either a minimum of 100,000 yen, if the car value to be bid on is less than a million yen or 10% of the value of the vehicle you want to purchase.

Yes. Whenever possible, we obtain the CO₂ and NOx emission data required by the Hong Kong Environmental Protection Department.
We will also inform you if your chosen vehicle may not meet the latest Euro VIc standards before purchase.
