Import Conditions for Used Cars to Hungary
| Vehicle Age Limit | There is no official age limit for importing used vehicles into Hungary. However, vehicles less than 6 years old are generally recommended for import. For vehicles imported from Japan, an age restriction of within 5 to 8 years may apply depending on the vehicle type and regulatory context. |
| Emission and Environmental Standards | All vehicles must comply with EU emission standards, such as Euro 5 or Euro 6, depending on the year of first registration. Non-EU vehicles, such as those from Japan, may require additional documentation or compliance testing to meet Hungarian and EU environmental regulations. |
| Steering Wheel Position | Left-hand drive vehicles are standard and preferred in Hungary. Right-hand drive vehicles can be imported, but they must undergo technical conversion and may face restrictions for registration and resale. |
| Customs Duty | No customs duty applies when importing from within the EU. From outside the EU (e.g., Japan): - Customs duty: 10% of the vehicle’s value - Value-Added Tax (VAT): 27% applied at customs clearance - Registration tax (Regisztrációs Adó): Based on engine type, displacement, age, and emission standard; typically ranges from 50,000 HUF to 2,000,000 HUF |
| Additional Requirements | Authenticity check (Eredetiségvizsga): A mandatory vehicle identity inspection, costing approximately 16,000 to 20,000 HUF. Technical inspection (Műszaki vizsga): Ensures roadworthiness and emissions compliance. New vehicles require this after 4 years, then every 2 years. |

Ensure that your country's import regulations match the vehicle specifications. Also, check the transportation costs from the auction venue and the final total amount.

Deposit Payment
Once the conditions are met, please make the required deposit payment and proceed with bidding.
Either a minimum of 100,000 yen, if the car value to be bid on is less than a million yen or 10% of the value of the vehicle you want to purchase.

Yes. Whenever possible, we retrieve the CO₂ and NOx emission data relevant to your vehicle.
Our team is experienced with EU environmental regulations, and if the data is not available for certain vehicles, we will inform you before bidding.

Shipping Time – How long does it take for my vehicle to arrive in Hungary?

The estimated shipping time from Japan to Hungary (via ports such as Koper, Bremerhaven, or Hamburg, followed by inland transport) is approximately 35 to 45 days, depending on the route and logistics.
